We are all itching to get outside when spring is just around the corner everyone is ready to get outside and start moving after a very wet and windy winter!

While a camping trip may be just what you need, it’s a good idea to be prepared in early spring.

Springtime weather can be so unpredictable; I’ve been out camping in the sunshine, to abandoning a trip due to snow!

Use this spring camping checklist to make sure you’re prepared for anything.

Dust down your tent – we get ours down from the loft.

Check for holes and tears and test everything out, make sure your pegs and mallets are all together.

Make sure your stove and igniter is in working order and you have plently of fuel.

Spring nights can get very cold, and you need to pack with this in mind. A cold weather sleeping bag is essential for 20- to 40-degree weather. Even if it doesn’t get quite that cold, it’s best to be prepared.

Pack a sleeping mat or pad. Having this between you and the cold ground is a necessity.

Make sure you bring enough warm, waterproof clothing. Don’t forget waterproof shoes and boots, as well, especially if you’re hiking. Even if it doesn’t rain on you, puddles and mud are aplenty in the springtime.

These are the little extras that can make all the difference, so be sure your spring camping checklist is up to date and ready for your first camp outing.
