Unique Day Out – Surf Snowdonia

If you are looking for something unique to try, then this sounds a great day out.

The worlds first ever surfing lagoon opened on the 1st August, the lagoon is situated in the Conway Valley in North Wales.  £12 million pounds has been spent on the facility and the lagoon generates the world longest wave for all levels of surfers to ride (or try!)

The lagoon has been built on the site of the former factory which covers an area equivalent to six football pitches.

This looks like a great day out for the whole family or group of friends!

There is free surfing and surf lessons avalaible.

Freesurfing’ sessions at Surf Snowdonia (that’s all surfing outside of the Surf Academy lessons) are available to beginner, intermediate and advanced surfers. Different areas of the lagoon are suitable for different abilities.  There is a guide available on their website to see where you fit.

The lagoon is 300m by 113m and advanced surfers will surf closest to the central pier, where the wave is highest (2 metres). Intermediate surfers will surf on the 1.2 m waves towards the sides of the lagoon, and beginners will stick to the bays at all four corners of the lagoon where the 70cm waves are perfect for learning the basics and building your confidence.

The website has a full list of prices, and there is an easy booking facility online but to give you an idea of cost, prices for beginners for the free surfing start from £19 and adult and family surfing lessons starts from £39, with children’s surf lessons starting at £29/£39.

There are also bundle deals available too.
