Favourite Uk Winter Walks

There may be a chill in the air but winter is a great season to go exploring.

I personally love christmas but the excesses of festive season can leave many of us feeling overwhelmed, stressed and disconnected from nature. If nothing else I can justify an extra mince pie if I’ve had a nice walk, but walking has a hugely positive impact on how we feel.

Often a lot less busy, a winter walk can really help to clear the cobwebs and get away from it all – helping you make the most of a crisp, clear, sunny day or walk in a winter wonderland – every leaf crunched step can help you unwind.

There’s no better way to shrug off the winter blues than to wrap up warm and escaping outside for a frosty walk.

The Guardian have picked 10 of their favourite Uk Winter Walks, all of which recommend a place to refuel, usually a nice inn or a bar (the phrases “open fire”, “wood-panelled” and “après ski” are enough to inspire me to grab my walking boots!) all of which sound inviting enough to make you think they found the pubs first then added the walks as an afterthought!

Even if the weather isn’t crisp and sunny, as long as you have the correct clothing, boots, wind and waterproofs then you can still enjoy a winter walk in any weather.
