The actual light remains on the outside of the handlebar. Once installed the Lumos light they emit both white (front) and red (rear) light all in the same unit. Another great feature is the ability to indicator your direction just like car indicators. Once the button is pressed this continues for 10 seconds then turns off. The lights remain on.
